Why we host Tips for Teachers

Other service industry professions have a culture of tipping. Even small contributions from customers can make a significant difference for individuals in these service-oriented roles. Interestingly, yoga and Pilates instructors are not included in this tipping culture. Yoga and Pilates teachers get paid in direct relationship with the service they provide. Unfortunately, this economic equation doesn't account for preparation, education, and late nights spent brainstorming new sequences. This may seem like a fun job but it involves a lot of work outside of the classroom as well as self care to sustain teaching energy throughout the day.

Hence, I began encouraging and facilitating Tips for Teachers at the end of the year. By providing an economic appreciation, you are directly supporting the livelihoods of these remarkable individuals.

Will I be upset if you choose not to tip? Absolutely not! There are other ways to share your support. We understand that the current financial climate has made things difficult for many people so below are a few free ways to share your support. And if that feels like a lot too…. Its ok, we are just as happy to be of service to you whenever you can attend classes and dedicate to your practice.

Additional ways to say thank you!

  • Write a MBO review: If you love a teacher or a particular class write a positive review on the Mindbody app!

  • Write a Google review: As the primary search engine, positive reviews help any small business and its employees

  • Send a thank your note: If you write one to the whole staff we will post it in the employee room for a little extra positivity between classes

  • Snacks! We love snacks and will never turn down delicious snacks :-)

However you are able to share a little gratitude back to our hardworking team would be wonderful. They are incredible humans in service to the mindful wellness of each and every individual who walks through our doors. They deserve all the love we can give.

In service,

Krista
