We want everyone to try Pilates, so all classes at Cascadia are open to the public. However, some classes may be a better fit for your body than others. The three different levels we provide are described as gentle, active, and vigorous. "Gentle" classes are a great option for beginners and students who want to nourish injured or potentially injured areas. "Active" classes are great for the mover who wants a workout but is still safe for those who may be newer to the method. "Vigorous" classes are ideal for students who have no injuries, have been taking classes for some time, and want that extra push. Keep reading for class details.

GENTLE

REBOOT

Our reboot class is here to help those recovering from injury, relearning new postural habits, or simply wanting to work with specific areas that need some extra attention. When the system goes awry, you may need to reboot and restart. Laying new foundations can require dedication and diligence, but can result in gratifying and rewarding experiences. Relearn new habits, learn tips and tricks to manage acute or chronic injuries, connect with your physical “situations” and improve them day by day.

MOBILIZE

Mobilize classes will loosen your joints, create space in your tissue, re-hydrate your fascia, and inspire freedom in your body. Sometimes you need to mobilize before you stabilize. You will walk out of class feeling taller, lighter, and ready to move.

ACTIVE

HABIT 1

Habit could also stand for “human-anatomical-baseline-integration-technique...” Sound geeky? Because it is! Our Habit classes are all about technique. These classes teach the Pilates method’s most authentic principles! Our habit classes are about you, human health, sound anatomical mechanics, finding your body’s physical baseline and working from there. It’s about integrating the movement into your daily actions, and about bringing that technical approach to life. This class is paced at an active level.

B-SQUARED

This class focuses on two main areas, butts and bellies. The name may be a bit cheeky (no pun intended) but this class is all about getting those two regions turned on and fired up! Many people have chronically tight hips and frustratingly achy low backs. By activating the glutes and the abdominals you can combat many postural aches and pains. These two power players need some extra attention... and after a few classes, you will definitely start to feel the difference!

VIGOROUS

HABIT 2

Take our Habit 1 class and then add a little sugar and spice to the recipe. HABIT 2 layers that extra challenge of more complex choreography, changes in resistance, and more complicated balance environments. Our habit classes are about you, human health, sound anatomical mechanics, finding your body’s physical baseline and working from there. It’s about integrating the movement into your daily actions, and about bringing that technical approach to life. This class is paced at a vigorous level.

TRADE-OFF - JUMP BOARD

As you become more skilled in the Pilates repertoire, there are new and fun ways to challenge your ability to maintain those skills. By increasing the tempo of your movement, changing the resistance, reducing the base of support, or ADDING A JUMP BOARD, we make this class our most vigorous option. Don’t trade-off your alignment for the challenge, but see what challenge point you can achieve. And who knows, you may surprise yourself!

CLASSIC SERIES

This traditional mat class includes the 32 exercises from Joseph Pilates original text Contrology. We keep to the text to the best of our abilities but will also add preparatory movements or palate cleansers so your body feels worked and amazing at the end. There is something to be said about this approach!
