Krista Loveless Lennartz

Krista (she/her) a Portlander born and raised, started teaching movement over 26 years ago.

In this phase of her career, she prioritizes advocation for her teachers and students. In addition to napping on bolsters as self-care one of her core beliefs is that everyone is doing their best, and that is perfectly good enough.

After receiving her BA in dance education and psychology from Marymount Manhattan College in 2005, she pursued her certification as a Pilates instructor from the Kane School of Core Integration in New York City.

In 2012, she added yoga instructor (Yoga Bhoga RYT 200) to her skill set, helping her incorporate the practice into her life and in the studio. In 2015, she received her Masters in Motor Learning and Control from the Teachers College Columbia University biobehavioral sciences department – the answers she unveiled from that research would change the way she looks at Pilates forever and would become the lychpin of The Practice Space’s curriculums today.

Her goal: To shift the question from “am I doing this right?”, to “how can I adapt this for me?” Providing every practitioner and instructor with the agency to decide for themselves.

The program reignited her passion for helping teachers refine their skills and hopes to bring a new outlook on teaching movement to the Portland Community.

“I’m always looking towards how we can improve or approach the work more effectively. I want change in our students' lives and I’m willing to do everything I can to make that more likely to happen.”

Her favorite thing about The Practice Space (since joining in 2009)?
“How the teachers continue to challenge and help me grow. I have learned so much from my peers.”

Her favorite class to teach?
“I seriously love them all. In fact, I get a thrill from trying to teach all of them because it challenges my teaching brain.”

She is the best teacher I have ever come across, and I have benefited greatly from her skills and knowledge. As an athlete, I sign up for every anatomy class she teaches, simply because I know I will leave with deeply useful insights into how I use my body every day.”
